#127 - 128 Mooi OOsterhout / Beautiful Oosterhout

Eindelijk weer creatief bezig geweest.

*
I've finally been creative again.
The past 2 weeks I've been happy just sitting on my couch at night; I really need to get back into my routine.
Amazing that you can loose that in only 6 weeks.....

As you may know, I love to ride my bike.
During my vacations I rode my bike a lot and I made a lot of photos of the things we saw.
I noticed how beautiful my city Oosterhout is.

This LO was in an album waiting for the right photos.
It's from the HTK by AkkeFietje of May 2007.

1e schooldag (-weken) / 1st day (weeks) of school

*
It's always exciting, that 1st day of school.
Not just for the kids and their parents, but also for the teacher!
I always have a bad night sleeping on the last night of vacations. Afraid I forgot something? Afraid I'll oversleep?
After all these years in education I still don't know. But sleeping is hard that night!

An early start in the morning, going to schoole early, taking a last look of the room.
After coffee the kids come in.
2 of them are having a real hard time, they are crying and don't want to let go of their mom or dad.
As difficult as it is for the moms and dads, they have to trust that everything will be okay and leave.
As hard as that is.....

We are having an unexpected birthdayparty.
Nothing is prepared, no crown, no card to use when he visits the other teachers, a very small party.
Too bad for the boy who had his birthday last week.
But because of the gifts he made, we couldn't wait intil the afternoon.

While they are eating their grapes, I read a story about Rik.
Rik is going to 1st grade for the 1st time, but he's afraid, 'cause he can't read yet. (Perfectly normal in the Netherlands.)
A great story to start the 1st day with, 'cause in every class there are kids who really relate to Rik!

The learn the word 'ik' (=I) and they make an I-book that they can take home today to show what they did.
We also do math and writing.
And there is luckily also time to play!

Our system works differently than most schools.
We don't all do the same work at the same time.
They get a card that tells them what work they have to do on a day. They can choose in which order they want to do their work.
The 1st weeks I show them everything they have to do when we sit in a circle. (I'm wondering what the name for that is in english. Maybe someone can help me with this.)
And each year a lot of the kids know how to work with their card after only 1 week.

After doing what they 'have' to do, there's still enough time to do what they 'want' to do.
In the coming weeks the work they have to do will increase.
And there's a difference in the cards. Kids that can handle more already get more work.
And the once that are not ready yet, get less/different work.
The work and the instructions they get are at their level.
Now the instructions are mostly with the whole group in the circle.
But slowly this will change.
A group will stay in the circle for some extra instruction and the others will start on their work.
But we are not there yet!

Despite the fact that the difference between Kindergarten and 1st grade is not as big as it is in most schools, there's still a big difference.
And the kids really have to get used to the way we work, but after 2 weeks, most of them have settled in.
And so has the teacher. I see who need my help more than others.
It's always so amazing to see, that a large part of a class develope by 'themselves'.
As long as I challenge them enough, they will develope.
And me? I ahve my hands free for those who really need my help a lot.

Ik ben er klaar voor! / I'm ready for it!

*
The last things in my house are done.....
The last things I have to take with me are ready.....
I went to the hair-salon yesterday.....
I'm ready for the new schoolyear!

But boy, did those 6 weeks fly by!
I did a lot, saw a lot, did a lot of biking, did a lot of enjoying.....
6 weeks just wasn't enough!

And the winner is.....

*
First I'll explain how I come to this winner.
I printed all the posts and gave them a number.
Everyone who left a message on her blog got 2 consecutive numbers.
I couldn't find a message on some blogs, so they only got 1 number.

45 people left me 49 messages, but 4 left 2.
Of course they didn't get numbers for both.

After that I used Random.org to get a number.

En de winnaar is.....
*
And the winner is.....

Sketch Saturday

*
I just made another card on the back of the front.
Get it? ;0))
I can't put anyting bulky on my cards, 'cause that will make it hard to write in my dayplanner.

That's why there are flowers on the dayplanner and not on the card.

This card was made using this weeks sketch by Sketch Saturday.
Again a real nice sketch to use!

Cute Card Thursday + sketch Katharina

Hun challenge deze week is 'The two of us'.

*
I made the front of my dayplanner for the challenge at Cute Card Thursday.
Their challenge this week is 'The two of us'.
2 Bella's certainly fall in that category.

I also used a sketch by Katharina for this card.
It's the sketch she made for Papertake Weekly.
Unfortunatly I'm to late to participate in this challenge.

I want to use more challenges for the other cards that will be in my dayplanner.
Hopefully there will be a few soon that I can use!

Agenda / Dayplanner 2008-2009

*
I wanted to go to school today, but I don't feel real great.
My sinusses are acting up again and everything that goes with that; headache, tired.
But anywho, that will all be over befoe I'm an old man! ;0))

I finally started on my dayplanner for the upcoming schoolyear.
After a few scrapdayplanners, I'm making a stampdayplanner this year.
With my Bella's.
And finally dusted of my 5th Avenue.

Disappearing Act - # 126

*
I had a real hard time with this mini-album.
Not the album in it self, but with attatching the spirals; they kept coming off!

This was also a project by Karen Burniston.

Fietstocht / Bike-ride (Long post, sorry!)

*
I love corny things. I'm not to big to admit that.
1 of the things that you can really please me with is a bike-ride through our beautifull dutch counrty-sight.

*
In the past going by bike was a necessary evil to get from A to B. hrough rain or shine.
We all lived those days until we were able to get that desired pink piece of paper when we are 18. (A piece of paper that is no longer a piece of paper but a credit-card size card. Easy to take with you when you go shopping. But that's another story.)

A few years ago I rode to school with a co-worker, a ride of some 45 minutes. Enjoyabl, but only when the weather is nice.
(Sorry, but I don't go through rain or shine now I have that pink piece of paper!)

*
Since a little over a year I like to just drive 'around' and I also get on the pedals of a bike that doesn't move an inch a few times a week, aka spinning.

*
In our town there are different routes that you can take by bike. 1 of them is the route 'Past campsites and canals'. (Yeah, Amsterdam is not the only place where we have canals!)
You pass 9 (mini)campsites and 2 canals around town.
Every year a day is choosen when those campsites open their doors for the public. They all organise something that day.
Today was that day and my mom (Hi, mom!) and me went on a glorious ride.

*
You see how beautifull Holland is.
How much green there is to see, if you just get of the freeway.
We've lived in Oosterhout for 35 years this year and I have been to places where I've never been before.

*
I don't like camping.
I'm a luxury-kid and need hotels and staff on my vacations.
But if I were a camper, I would stay at 1 of those mini-campsites.
They look more friendly and more cozy than the big sites.
There everyone is so close together and on the mini-campsites there is still some room around your camper/tent.

Even een minuutje rust.

*
They gave you something at each campsite: candy/ice-cream, something to drink, a cup of delicious tomato-soup.
A little break.

We started at the right place, 'cause we ended up at pancakehouse/camping 'De Hannebroek'.
And they were making pancakes for all the riders.
We had earned that one!

En deze had ik ook verdiend:
*
And I had earned this one to:

Een caramel-sundea van de Mac! * A caramel-sundea from McDonalds!

Volgende week gaan we weer zo'n stuk fietsen.
Heerlijk!
*
All in all we rode about 25 miles.
Next week we'll take another spin.
Bliss!

Debbie's blog-candy

Debbie geeft ook al stempels weg!
Ik word daar allemaal zo hebberig van..... ;0))

*
Debbie is also giving away stamps!
I always get so greedy when they do that..... ;0))

Another blog that's worth a visit.

Alex's blog-candy

*
Alex is also giving away a Spiral Whisper-stamp.
Those are pretty awesome!

*

Daring Cardmakers + #125

*
The challenge at Daring Cardmakers this week is to use 'old' stuff.
I think this Chatterbox-paper is old enough. ;0))

Klinkt lekker!

*

*
Bev has had so many hits on her blog, that she's celebrating it with blog-candy.

I really love those stamped images, I don't have any of those HanglerStangler stamps yet! ;0))

#123 - 124

*
I wanted to make a mini-album with the photos from the 7-in-7 challenge from the Creative Buzz.
But earlier this week, at night one time, I got the idea to make a LO with them.
And it turned exactly as I pictured iy.

An easy LO to make.
I'll do it more often this way.

I notice that more and more I put photos in a way that they are attached on both pages.
Didn't do that before and I see that in the magazines all the time.

*
This was also a project by Karen Burniston.

Nieuw uiterlijk / New look

Fabrizio's blog-candy

*

Daring Cardmakers + #125

*
The challenge at Daring Cardmakers this week is to use 'old' stuff.
I think this Chatterbox-paper is old enough. ;0))

Klinkt lekker!

*
With these 4 cards I'm halfway through the challenge.
Sounds nice!

Bev's blog-candy
